Description: If you are an early childhood professional, you know that your job requires a large set of skills and a level of grit not often needed for other occupations. Daily responsibilities can easily detract from the joys that are so abundant in our work if we pause to see them! What if there was something that could not only improve the satisfaction we feel in our job, but that could also impact the quality of care and education you are providing? Self-awareness can do just that! “When we know ourselves, we are more skilled at harnessing sufficient supports and resources for our self-care, and we are better able to educate and care for others.” (Hatton-Bowers et. al., 2021). Becoming self-aware is a journey and one that we all begin in different places. Join us as we discuss what it means to be self-aware, why it’s important as an early childhood professional, how it can improve job satisfaction, and simple ways to start your journey.
